The Dabbling Duck Shere and Peaslake Trail
The walking route follows long stretches of beautiful ancient lanes which criss-cross this area of the Surrey Hills. You'll pass through sections of heath and woodland with the opportunity to see plenty of wildlife and enjoy views across the landscape.

The walk has many fairly gentle climbs and descents throughout plus just a couple of short, more challenging gradients. The vast majority of the route follows ancient lanes which are fairly wide, but are rocky and uneven, and can be muddy in winter. There are no stiles on route, just a handful of gates including one kissing gate.

Lunch in Peaslake (options of pub or tea from village shop) and tea shop in Shere ¾ miles before the end of the walk.

Surrey McNevis
The objective for this walk is to clock up as much ascent as climbing Ben Nevis from sea level. We shall therefore thoroughly explore the hills of Headley Heath, Box Hill, part of the North Downs and Mickleham Downs. This will be a tough but enjoyable day in the Surrey Hills. Bring a packed lunch. Afterwards, I plan to have a pub meal in The Tree, Box Hill. Do let me know if you would like to join me so I can judge whether or not it would be sensible to reserve a table. This will be the last day of 'Summer Time' (the clocks change on the 30th) so let's make the most of it. Sunset is reckoned to be 1745 so do bring a torch just in case we run late

Starting point
Meet 0945 to start walking promptly at 1000 at the Headley Heath National Trust car park (TQ205538). The car park is opposite the cricket pitch and there is a daily charge of £4.00 for non-National Trust members. NT members can park for free.
